World Oral Health Day

Mar
2023
March 20th marks World Oral Health Day, with this date aiming to increase oral treatment and dental rehabilitation. This date is an initiative of the World Dental Federation (FDI) and aims to raise awareness for the good preservation of oral health throughout life with correct habits of oral hygiene, nutrition and adequate surveillance.

Globally, oral diseases are among the most common chronic diseases. Currently, ninety percent of the world's population is at risk of some type of oral disorder, from cavities and periodontal diseases to oral cancer.

For the child and youth population, oral diseases constitute one of the main health problems. For families, the socioeconomic impact due to the cost of treatment is relevant. A healthy mouth is essential for general health, from well-kept lips, complete dentition, among others, that allow good static and good speaking, chewing and facial expression functions.
