DERIVATION FOR HYDROCEPHALUS SPHERA DUO
Sphera  Duo valves were developed for precise control of intraventricular cerebral pressure. The adult and infant sizes feature a low-profile implant design and a flexible anatomically shaped body that accompanies the curvature of the skull. They are made of medical grade transparent silicone with internal  polysulphone structure. They have a central pumpable reservoir with a rigid base for protection against perforations in  the procedures of punching and csf collection.  The neonatal size does not present a pumping chamber, because its design prioritizes the minimum profile and volume of implant. The system when mounted with a reservoir coupled to the ventricular catheter allows punching and csquecer collection.

SPHERA MECHANISM: PRECISE OPERATION
The operating mechanism consists of ruby conical ball and seat and stainless steel spring. The perfect adaptation between ball and seat allows to safely define the opening and closing pressures of the system, providing precision in the control of intracranial pressure. Adult and infant sizes feature a double pressure control system housed in the inlet and outlet connectors. The Neonatal model accommodates only one pressure control mechanism. All sizes are supplied in four pressure ranges: high, medium, low and extra low,in order to meet the individual needs of patients. The flow and pressure indications printed on the valve body are radiopaque and allow visualization in imaging examinations after implantation.

CATHETERS: FLEXIBILITY AND RADIOPACITY
The system consists of a valve accompanied by a cerebral ventricular catheter and peritoneal catheter. These are manufactured in transparent medical grade soft silicone with radiopaque fillet, which ensures the visualization of catheters in imaging tests. The hardness of the silicone used for the manufacture of catheters was dimensioned to allow adequate flexibility and, at the same time, to avoid the unwanted occurrence of cotoves in the subcutaneous path, which may cause obstruction or decreased drainage flow. For all valve sizes, the system can be supplied in different combinations of peritoneal and ventricular catheter with or without reservoir.
