European Antibiotic Day

18
Nov
2022
The 18th of November marks European Antibiotic Day, with this date's main objective being to increase public awareness about their incorrect use and the problem of antimicrobial resistance.

Prudent use of antibiotics can help prevent the development of these resistant bacteria and keep antibiotics effective for use by future generations. But according to the European Union, the number of patients infected by resistant bacteria is increasing, posing a serious threat to public health. It is estimated that by 2050, 10 million people will die worldwide from infections caused by resistant bacteria-

The Order of Pharmacists (OF), the Portuguese Association of Hospital Pharmacists (APFH), the National Association of Pharmacies (ANF), the Association of Pharmacies of Portugal (AFP) and the Portuguese Association of Clinical Analysts (APAC) join the celebrations of European Antibiotic Day, and everyone has a duty to contribute to preserving the effectiveness of antibiotics.
